People present

ESSIVE MEMBERS -          Chris, Eleanor, Paul, Phillip, Jenny, Tina and Sue

GUEST                      -            Jon (Form the Roebuck)

12.30 am

The notable rooms in the Roebuck were the stairs, hallway and bedroom 3 (unfortunately room 3 was later in use, so the room was not fully investigated)

12.40 am

Baseline readings were being taken; members were either taking pictures or video and cold spots were found on the stairs and at the bottom end of the pub.  Every one felt the pub was cloudy and had a very heavy feeling. The temperature of the whole location was between 22.5 to 23 degrees except the cellar which was 8 degrees. EMF readings taken by Paul all proved to be normal.

00.55 am

Chris and Eleanor sat down to prepare the questions for the dowsing session based on their initial feelings for the location.

Jenny and Tina in the meantime went to investigate upstairs. On the landing names were being picked up such as Bob, Alfred and Wilfred? (One of which was aged 64 and had a lot to say for himself). The toilet door at the end of the landing was noted to be swaying, this was later found out to be the spirit of a boy called Jimmy Jones who was aged 13. Both ladies felt dizzy and light headed, together with tightening of the chest.

Room 3 (1.00 am) Tina, Jenny and Sue, picked up on a lady named Caroline who was not happy, when Sue sat on the bed. A shadow was spotted by Tina seconds before Sue felt her back go very cold. Sue felt it was not a happy room.  Jenny picked up on the same feelings.

1.20 am to 1.35 am                 DOWSING

This was held at the front of the pub near the main entrance.

Dowsers were Tina, Jenny and Paul, answers by Sue, Phillip and Jon

Tina picked up on someone saying “sorry sorry sorry”, this was afterwards thought to be a gentleman named Joseph Jenkins. Eleanor asked Jenny to sit down where Tina had been and she picked up on a spirit saying “who are you” twice then “go away”

2.10 am to 3.00 am     SÉANCE ONE

Members included Sue, Tina, Phillip, Eleanor, Jenny and Jon (After a short period Jon requested to leave the circle)

Paul and Chris used Video, EMF and an Infrared thermometer to record the proceedings..

A man named Geoffrey came through to Tina and Eleanor, but was a little confused and seemed to want to know if a boy named James was ok. He gave the impression he was a figure to be feared in life but he regretted it now and would like to make amends for his treatment of Jimmy. James (Jimmy Jones) started to try and talk to Jenny, he was running scared from Geoffrey and a lady named Dorothy. Jenny was upset and confused herself as this was only her second investigation and she had been rather sceptical before joining the team at Derby Gaol. Jimmy claimed he always used to hide in the toilet, on the landing and liked to sit on the stairs. He also likes to turn the beer taps on and off, flicker lights, flush toilets and run up and down the landing. It was at this point that Sue started to feel very cold, the pressure she felt was something that she could not fight, Geoffrey was trying to channel through Sue to get to Jimmy who was standing behind Jenny. Jenny shouted out “he is coming to get me” Eleanor re-assured Jenny however again Jenny shouts out “he’s coming I must hide, hide” and the spirit called Jimmy appeared to leave the room. Sue was then trying to think calm thoughts and had to tell Geoffrey to leave her alone, two friendly spirits who often come along to our investigations to help members of the team took Geoffrey out of the room.  Sue said the feeling was like Geoffrey was putting pressure on her using bullying ways.  Dorothy who had just been watching the proceedings from the other side of the bar admitted she loved her drink and was a cook at age 58.  A soldier from the late 1800’s called Jack came through in a red uniform, he appeared to be from the Boar war. Jack then came back looking for his sweetheart Marie, he then gave us the name Simarack (or something very similar) as his last name.  The séance continued and the atmosphere became very intense, and Jon asked if he could leave the séance. The temperature around the table dropped by 4 degrees and rose back to 23 degrees soon after the séance had ended. We later found out was that the grey/black cat was a black panther, a pet believed to be of the boy Jimmy Jones, the activity in séance calmed and Eleanor closed the circle.

On looking back at the photos and video of the 1st séance when Geoffrey was trying to channel through Sue, she looked like a man with reseeding hair line and very wide and a photo appeared to be of two people standing at the bar and a little boy standing behind Phillip.

3.20 am

The group heard noises which appeared to be coming from above in room 3, Phillip and Paul went up to investigate and to set up a surveillance camera, on trying to enter a guest was settling down for the night which explained the noises we heard. As we were unable to investigate room 3 the surveillance camera was set up in the kitchen, on checking the computer later unfortunately nothing was captured.

3.44 am to 4.13 am

We decided to try out a spirit board dating back to the 1970’s, the results board received were disappointing and the board did not appear to work very well. However while using it a knock on the table was heard by all, everyone present could account for the location of their hands and feet we are confident that no living person was responsible for it.

4.20 am to 4.48 am     GLASS DIVINATION

To begin with there seemed to be someone or something causing a few problems, we could not get started everyone was in hysterics and giggles, when we had settled down Phillip was taking notes with Paul and Chris on camera. Eleanor started the session however but was replaced by Paul when her back got too painful. The following questions were asked and answers received, we asked the spirits to move the glass for yes and to leave it still for no.

5.40 am to 6.24 am     SÉANCE TWO

The starting temperature was 20 degrees and the sitters were, Chris, Eleanor, Tina, Sue and Jenny. The activity started almost immediately with Eleanor feeling someone blowing in her ear, together with a gentleman sitting to her left hand side. Jimmy was once again standing behind Jenny, he seemed to feel safe with her and was being very quiet because Geoffrey was in the room. Tina made contact with a spirit who gave his name as Peter, Eleanor asked Peter what he wanted, said he wants to go home and he cannot, he was on his bike and got the bread.  Peter appeared to be hurt, due to an accident on his bike he informed Eleanor his chest hurt, all around the table the temperature appeared to getting colder and a drop of 4 degrees was measured.

Tina then felt she wanted to speak French, Sue thought it was Marie trying to channel through Tina. Clicking sounds were heard, they appeared to come from under the table and several of the sitters thought the table had moved. The next spirit to make contact was Caroline, she was very distressed, and said she was afraid of a man she was with. Eleanor helped Caroline to walk towards the light by guiding her part of the way, a strong smell of roses was then witnessed by the group, this could possibly have been Caroline saying thank you. Sue felt her hands slide forward as if they were being pushed and Eleanor and Chris were prodded in the ribs, they were sitting next to each other and it felt as if someone was trying to squeeze in between them. Everything seemed to go very quiet and the circle was closed.

We had a surprise when looking at a silver cross which we had placed on the séance table, we had found it appeared to have been bent during séance. As we have no photograph of the cross prior to the séance we are unable to provide proof that it was not previously in this condition, however several attempts were made to straighten it and we were unable to bend it with our bare hands.

We packed our equipment away and left the building at 6.45 am.

Our thanks go to Jon from the Roebuck for allowing us to carry out this investigation
